FCF Weekend Wrap-Up: Red Robin deals (again!), Cinnamon Rolls (again!), freezer jam, and more! (+ Red Robin coupon)

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm sorry this post is a little late at getting out. My last amazing helper (my cute M.I.L) officially left, so I am now SOLO with the two kiddos.
Gulp.
It's been a hectic morning, but we're getting into somewhat of a routine which helps!

Our weekend was fun, as we enjoyed our last few days with my hubby's mom. Here are a few fun things we did:

  • I finished making my baby announcements. This cost me absolutely nothing!
    • I took the pictures on my own (get as much natural light as possible, and turn off your flash...that's all I do!)
    • I used THIS TUTORIAL and made this announcement and thank you note using GIMP:

    • I used a coupon for 100 free prints from Costco (you get them when you buy their picture frames!), and printed them as 4x6 photos.
    • I glued the announcement to one side of a 5x7 piece of stiff card stock scrapbook paper.
    • For people that I owed a thank you note to, I glued the "Thanks" print on the back and wrote the thank you note below the photo. Easy peasy!
    • For people that I didn't owe a thank you note to, I glued this to the back:

I love getting baby announcements, but am always curious as to A) how their delivery went (the birth story) and B) where they came up with the name. I thought I'd add a little info to keep people informed and involved!

On Friday I made some freezer jam for the first time with my cute M.I.L. It was so easy and turned out so good! I'll share the recipe with you tomorrow for Foodie Tuesday.

Friday night we went to one of our favorites, Red Robin. We always walk away with full stomachs, boxes upon boxes of leftovers, and a SMALL tab! Love that place.

Here's how we made out this time:
  • 1. We used this coupon (below) to get our FREE bottomless berry lemonade! (It's the best I've ever had at a restaurant - it's loaded with strawberries and is soooo yummy.)
(photo removed, coupon expired.)

Are you on their email list yet? That's how you get these great freebies.

  • 2. They now offer sides. So rather than order my son (who barely eats anything anyway...) a $5 full kids meal, we get him a side of Mac-n-Cheese for $1.99. It feeds him for at least two meals so we fee like it's a great deal.
  • 3. We enjoyed our bottomless steak fries. (Remember to ask for a refill on the fries before you go home! Broil them on low in the oven, flip them over when one side starts to brown, and I promise they taste as good as new. Be sure to ask for lids so you can take home their fry sauce; it's bomb.)
  • 4. Their $5 cheeseburger promo is back!! Well, it's actually $5.99 now, but that's still a good deal. Remember THIS TIP
    • Get the cheeseburger [just $5.99 for a limited time]
    • ask for a side of BBQ sauce [FREE] (it's extra good if you mix it with ranch. Low-fat? NO WAY...but super delish.),
    • ask for them to put crispy onion straws on the burger [FREE],
    • and you've just created yourself the $9 Whisky River BBQ burger for just $5.99!
Genius, right?
  • 5. Along with our FREE lemonade we also got a free order of their mozzarella sticks (once again, the best I've ever had at a restaurant...they are thick and so good!). I forgot to take a picture before we devoured them, so #5 is the empty plate as proof to how good they are :)
While there we took advantage of other offers:

Do you know RR has punch cards now??
Be sure to ask your server for them, they aren't advertised well at all. You buy 5 burgers (or entrees) and your 6th is FREE! This is a great deal, most punch cards make you buy 10 before you get a freebie!

We love RR and always have a good time. My son loves that there are TVs on everywhere you turn :)

On Saturday we went shopping. My husband had been saving up his extra money to get more work clothes, and I had some gift cards and needed some new workout clothes.

We don't normally shop at JC Penny, but we decided to give it a try because I had some good coupons sent to my phone. (Click HERE, then click on "coupons & offers" at the top of their page). We weren't disappointed. Check out how much we spent and saved:

Plus, my son had a blast in the accessories section...

On Sunday I made another batch of my amazing Cinnamon Roll recipe. Yes, I'm ridiculously obsessed. (But hey, I did give some away to a friend who just had a baby...so they weren't ALL for us...)

NOTE: I made some updates to the recipe, so be sure to check it out HERE.

WHEEW! And that was our fun, cheap, or free weekend.
How was yours?
