Yellow & Gray Nursery tutorials: No-sew foot stool cover

Here's another easy project I did for the baby's room that I thought I'd share!

No-Sew Foot Stool Cover

The rocker I used to use was a black bungee glide rocker that my husband had in college. It wasn't very comfortable, but got the job done...I guess.
I saved up and finally got my overstuffed granny chair for the room (ya-hoo!) BUT... it didn't come with a foot stool (a must when nursing!)

I decided to take the bungee rocker's foot stool and re-do it, rather than buying a new one.

Here's what I did:
I got some white spray paint and painted it. I forgot to get a before picture, so here's a 1/2 way picture.

I didn't bother painting the top because I knew I would be covering it.

I thought long and hard about what I would use for the padding. I didn't want anything expensive, and was having trouble finding padding that would fit the exact size of the stool.
One day I was folding laundry and found this old ratty towel to be a perfect fit!

I took fabric that I had leftover from when we made the crib bumper and measured it so it would fit over the top of the stool and part way underneath. Don't forget to iron your fabric!

I centered the fabric on the stool how I wanted it,

And simply tucked it underneath! No sewing needed. (I didn't want to sew it because I didn't know if I'd like the look and want to replace the stool someday; I wanted a temporary solution.)

I was able to tuck it tightly in the bungees, but you could certainly pin it with heavy duty safety pins, or you could sew ribbons on and tie it together underneath. I wanted a temporary fix in case I didn't like it so I simply tucked mine...and it works great!

 That's it!
Keep your eyes peeled for a foot stool at a yard sale, in the classifieds, thrift stores, or just re-cover something old you have lying around. Once you give it a pick-me-up with fabric and paint, it'll be good as new!
