Saving Craving! Savings tip: Student advantages

NOTE:
For an updated MUCH LARGER list of student discounts, click HERE

When I was in Chicago for Oprah I used my college ID to get a 30% discount at the museum we were visiting.
30% discount!
Simply for showing my ID card!

At first I had asked if there was any type of discount she could give me because I had my baby and we probably wouldn't last in the museum too long. At first she said no, then said, "well, actually, if you are a student you get $6 off." BINGO.

Let's be honest, being a student is expensive! You've got tuition, books, bus fares or gas, food, rent, utilities, dates and play money....it really adds up!

Luckily, as a student you can take advantage of MANY amazing perks.
Hey, you deserve it.
At BYU where I went to college students got access to all sorts of great things. Free counseling and career guidance, discounts at local restaurants and stores, free access to computers, labs, equipment, and learning materials, competitions and contests, and tons of free mentoring opportunities.

There are even MORE perks outside of your school boundaries! Whether you are a high school student, college student, or grad student, there are amazing benefits to being...well...a student!

A friend of mine who works at Banana Republic said if you simply mention that you are a teacher or student you get 15% off everything.
Are you KIDDING ME??
Who wouldn't take advantage??

Please remember that the key to getting discounts on things is to BE ASSERTIVE
(which is the "A" in my F.A.C.T's of saving...check them out HERE if you haven't already!)
and ask, ask, ask.
Oh, and ask.
Trust me, if you don't ask, you won't get....well...anything!

As a student you can get discounts on:
  • Software and computer items  (www.studentdiscounts.com)
  • Apple computers (Click HERE)
  • Photoshop (Click HERE) But...remember my tip on how you can get it for FREE?
  • Insurance
  • Cell phone plans
  • Gym memberships and fitness classes
  • Travel
  • Textbooks
  • Vitamins
  • Food/Restaurants
  • Concerts, shows, and events
  • Theaters, movie theaters, and museums
  • Sporting events
  • Auto care (Napa Auto Parts gives student discounts)
  • Ski passes (if you are a student or are married to one, or if you are 25 or younger, you can get a discounted season pass to the Canyons here in Utah. My husband is a rep, he'll hook you up! Leave a comment if you are interested, or email me at funcheaporfree@gmail.com)
  • Some warehouse stores (Sam's club student prices are the same, but they give you a $15 card when you sign up)
  • Stores
  • Bars and night clubs
  • Amusement parks
  • And all of these places too:

So give it a try! Keep that student ID handy on you at all times, and remember to ASK ASK ASK if they offer student discounts. If they say no, say "Well would you be willing to offer me a student discount so I can buy this from you?" Remember, the worst they can say is a simple NO.

Happy savings to you!

GREAT deal on indoor fireplaces

My husband and I bought an indoor fireplace from Costco years ago. It was about $500 and it was one of the best purchases we've ever made. It's basically a space heater, but much prettier! It's solid wood so we use it just like a real mantel. It heats our main floor really well, and is much more affordable than installing a real fireplace. $500 was an amazing deal when we got it.

Well, we should've held out.
Eziba.com has some really pretty ones (with storage included! Ugh!) for only $392! This is a crazy deal.
